Driving to Sacramento

drove up to Sacramento on Friday to spend sometime with my Pop and also to spend some time in the support center and out in the field in the Safeway kiosks. Part of what I enjoy on the drive up from LA is the chance to see vestiges of the old California on highway 99. Nice to see that not everything has been torn down for those awful big box shopping centers. I especially love Merced.

I didn't get a shot of the restaurant behind it but it looked like something straight out of the '30s. I think the sign must have been added in the '50s or '60s.

Sineloa enchiladas and their green chile ain't bad either

This is on the outskirts, looks like its been there since the '20. Next time I go through, I'll take some photos of the City Hall.

heading home

Been a good productive trip but I am ready to go home. Waiting for my flight and presto chango, in 6 hours:

Downtown Miami

Downtown Miami is full of new developments, condos and construction. This is the side of a building that had me mesmerized by the shapes and colors

In New York for a couple of days working with the Newark and Jet Blue partners. Stayed at the empire hotel. Got a great rate. Turns out to be a twenty something hangout on the bar. Never a good sign when you are checking in that the bouncer is carrying a limp passed out person to a waiting cab.

next week

Heading home for a day to do laundry and then on to the East Coast to see the Jet Blue partner and the Newark Airport partner. I am also in Miami for a few days of rest for my birthday and to meet with Florida International University on the upcoming opening in their Student Union.

Of course, New York means only one thing: Hotdogs! Specifically Grey's Papaya

In Seattle

In seattle visiting the Safeway Jamba kiosks and got done in time to take some shots as the sun sets in the Pacific Northwest.

las vegas

Just got back from Vegas. Had to go on work and had a chance to wander on Easter Sunday with my camera. I love downtown Las Vegas. There is something kind of sad as the last vestiges of the old Vegas are being torn down for the bright new shiny buildings. The old motel row on Fremont street is slowly disappearing. My favorites are the Para-a-dice motel and the Roulette motel. When I last photographed the area, Vegas Vic was still part of the neon sign on one of the motels. This trip-gone.
